Proposal

I’m going to create communal living with all of the future residents of Mars. It will be a cylinder going downward with many floors serving a different purpose. There will be floors for living and a kitchen and socialization floor.

Research

I started by researching everything I needed to know or this project. I learned about making artificial air, how they collected water in Antarctica, and how there's a plant that can grow in Mars soil. After researching I used all my information to find the best solutions for the lack of water and air. I compiled everything into google docs and sorted it by categories.

Start Making Lists

I started making lists of everything I needed to consider while making this project. Having lists on google docs will keep my information organized. The lists will consist of gravity, temperatures, winds, soil and good ideas and bad ideas to refer back to.

Make a 3D Building

After I knew what I wanted to build I began on Revit. I used the software to build a 3D model of my building so people could visualize my project. I was constantly adjusting my project to fit my requirements for it.

Sketch a Mock Up Design

I started drawing out designs and what I wanted my project to look like. After doing this I found some reference picture I liked and used some of those ides in my project. I started drawing on paper then started playing around on Revit with floor plans and the shape of the building.

Make It Accessible In VR

When I completed my 3D model, I imported it into CoSpaces and made it available to tour. You are able to walk around a look into rooms however you want to. It allows someone to see the actual design instead of just a floorplan.

STEAM Expo Goal

On May 18th, I will have…

A completed virtual model of Mars building showing how we can live there safely and efficiently. I want to showcase my design work and research with virtual reality by allowing people to tour the building. Each floor/room will have a short description explaining to thought process behind it.
